How to search
  • Plain words find names, texts and examples.
  • "two words" finds the exact phrase.
  • --name or -x finds an option.
  • #word looks only inside commands.
  • @grep finds lessons and labs that use grep.
  • Filters: cat:network · in:labs · in:notes · level:rhcsa · ch:8 · root:yes. Put ! before a word to leave it out. OR between words means one of them.

Chapter 2Name in the course: The MLOps lifecycle

Follow the ML lifecycle

An ML system goes in a circle: data → training → evaluation → deployment → monitoring → back to data. MLOps automates each step and connects them, so a model can be retrained and shipped safely, again and again.

  • 4 Lessons
  • 1 Commands

$ run as a normal user# run as root (or with sudo)

2.1

See the lifecycle

Each step has its own tools and checks.

StepWorkTypical tools
DataCollect, clean, version, validateDVC, Great Expectations, data lakes
FeaturesCompute inputs the same way in training and servingFeature stores (Feast)
TrainingRun experiments, track resultsNotebooks, MLflow, Weights & Biases
EvaluationCompare with the current model, check fairnessMLflow, custom tests
RegistryStore approved model versionsMLflow Model Registry
DeploymentServe the model as an API or batch jobFastAPI, KServe, Seldon, BentoML
MonitoringWatch quality, drift, latency, costEvidently, Prometheus, Grafana

2.2

Know the maturity levels

Teams grow from manual work to full automation.

LevelWhat it looks like
0 — manualNotebook → model file → someone copies it to a server
1 — pipelineTraining is an automated pipeline; models are retrained on new data
2 — CI/CD for pipelinesPipeline code is tested and deployed by CI/CD; models promoted by rules

2.3

Version everything

Reproducible = you can say exactly which code, data, parameters and environment made a model.

git tag model-fraud-v12
dvc add data/transactions.parquet
git add data/transactions.parquet.dvc .gitignore
dvc push
pip freeze > requirements.lock

2.4

Add DevSecOps to ML

Models and data are assets — and new attack surfaces.

  • Scan training and serving images like any image (container security).
  • Protect training data (PII): access control, encryption, data minimisation.
  • Pickled model files can run code when loaded — load only trusted, signed artifacts; prefer safe formats (ONNX, safetensors).
  • Limit and log access to model APIs (rate limits, auth) — models can leak data through their answers.
