The goal

Companies lose track of their devices: who has the laptop, when does the warranty end, how much is it worth. Jard keeps the full life of every asset, from purchase to retirement.

What it shows

Register
Automatic asset tags, serials, supplier, price, warranty date and documents.
Custody
Check out to a person with a return date, check in with the condition; overdue returns are flagged.
Repairs
Repair jobs with vendor and cost; the status changes by itself.
Licences
Software seats: who holds them, how many are free, when they end.
Alerts and value
Warranty and licence alerts, and the book value today with depreciation.
Reports
By category, place and status, with purchase and book value, CSV export.

Security controls

ControlWhat it stops
Role checks (viewer is read-only)Changes by people who should only look.
Prepared statements (PDO)SQL injection.
CSRF token on every formActions sent from another site.
Login throttlingPassword guessing.
Audit log with user and IPChanges that nobody can explain later.

Try it yourself

# PHP 8.1+ with pdo_sqlite (or MySQL). No framework, no Composer, no build step.
php -S 127.0.0.1:8080 # or upload the folder to any PHP hosting
# open http://127.0.0.1:8080/install.php → SQLite or MySQL → the first admin account
php seed.php # optional: demo data with users for every role

What I learned

  • An asset register is only useful when check-out and check-in are fast.
  • Alerts before the warranty ends save real money.
  • Book value turns an IT list into a report the finance team reads.
